The four steps
- Open the pageA guest session starts by itself. There is no registration form, so you go straight to the lobby.
- Choose video, audio or textThe first time you pick video or audio, your browser asks for camera and microphone access. Allow it for this session.
- Tap to matchYou are paired with someone who is online and available to chat. You do not choose who, and neither do they.
- Talk, or tap NextStay as long as the conversation is good. Tap Next to move on, or end the call. Report and block are on every call.
That is the entire loop. There are no profiles to browse and no inbox to check before you can talk to somebody.
Free matches and coins: what costs what
You get ten free matches a day, and each successful match uses one. They reset daily, so a new day brings a fresh set. You do not need an account for them.
When the free matches are used, matches and live video minutes use coins. The rate is shown before you commit, so you always see the price first. Buying coins is the one step that needs an account.
| What | How it works |
|---|---|
| Guest start | Automatic, no form, no card |
| Ten free matches | Daily, no account needed |
| Extra matches and live minutes | Use coins; rate shown before you commit |
| Buying coins | Needs an account |
If your main question is whether you will be charged by surprise, you will not be. The price is on screen before you agree to it.
How does random video chat work behind the scenes?

When you tap, the app asks its servers for someone who is online and available for the format you picked. Once there is a match, your browser and theirs open a live connection for the call. Video and voice travel over that connection, and your browser handles the camera and microphone, which is why it needs your permission first.
The waiting is usually short. If nobody suitable is free the moment you tap, you wait a few seconds for the next person to become available. A choppy picture is almost always the connection on one side, so Wi-Fi and a closer router are the first things to try.
For tips on what to do once the call connects, video chat with strangers covers the first minute in some detail.
Before you tap: a quick checklist
Two minutes of preparation saves most of the usual first-call problems.
- Browser: Safari on iPhone, Chrome on Android and most desktop browsers all work.
- Connection: Wi-Fi is steadier than mobile data. Move closer to the router if the picture stutters.
- Light: face a window or a lamp so your face is lit from the front.
- Sound: headphones stop echo and make the other person easier to hear.
- Background: check what is visible behind you before you start. Cam to cam chat has the full framing tips.
Your first week on Voozchat

Treat the first few matches as practice. Try a text chat or a voice call before video if you are nervous, and use 1v1 video chat when you want a proper face-to-face conversation. Use Next often. Short calls are normal, and nobody takes it personally.
Build two habits early: keep personal details to yourself, and leave the moment something feels wrong. The help and safety guide lists both, plus how reporting works, and it only takes a couple of minutes.
How it works: common questions
Do I need an account to start?
No. A guest session opens automatically, and your ten daily free matches do not require registration. An account is only needed to buy coins.
How many free matches do I get?
Ten a day. After those, matches and live video minutes use coins, and the rate is shown before you commit.
Can I choose who I talk to?
No. Matching is automatic: you choose video, audio or text and tap, and you are paired with someone who is online and available.
Why does my browser ask for camera access?
Video and audio calls need your camera and microphone. Allow access for this session; text chat needs neither.
