Is random video chat safe? An honest answer

Mostly, yes, and it depends heavily on what you do. A call with a stranger is as safe as the habits you bring to it. The risk is rarely the video itself. It is what people are talked into afterwards: sending money, clicking a link, moving to another app or sharing an address.

Nobody can promise that every person you meet will behave well, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can do is give you tools on every call and tell you straight how to use them. The rest of this page is exactly that.

If you have not used the service before, how Voozchat works takes two minutes and explains the flow before you try it.

Block and report in one tap

  1. End or skipYou can leave any call immediately with Next or by ending it. You never owe a stranger an explanation.
  2. ReportIf someone broke the rules, use report from the call screen. It tells us what happened, and it is the fastest way to flag a problem.
  3. BlockA blocked person cannot match with you again. Block anyone who made you uncomfortable, even if you are not sure it counts as a violation.
  4. Tell us moreIf you would like to add detail or ask about a case, write to us through contact us with what happened and roughly when.
Do not wait

Leave first and think later. A call that feels wrong rarely improves, and ending it costs you nothing.

What never to share on a video call

  • Money or card details. Nobody you meet on a call needs your money. Treat any request as a red flag.
  • Your address, workplace or school. Even a friendly question can be a way of building a picture of you.
  • Passwords, codes and verification messages. Never read these out or type them for anyone.
  • Links and files. Do not open links a match sends you and do not install anything they ask you to.
  • Anything you would not want captured. Assume whatever you show on a call could be saved on the other side.

If you would like to stay as private as the format allows, anonymous video chat explains what a guest session hides and what it cannot.

Red flags worth leaving a call for

Calm and in control: you decide how long every call lasts.

Most good calls never raise a flag. When one does, it tends to look like one of these.

  • Someone pushes you to move to another app or a private channel.
  • A match asks for money, gifts, a "small favour" or a deposit.
  • A story that keeps changing, or urgency with no reason: "I need an answer right now".
  • Pressure to do something on camera that you have not offered.
  • Someone who becomes angry when you say no or skip.

Any of these is a reason to end the call, report and block. You do not have to be certain it is a scam before you leave.

Age requirements and our community rules

Voozchat is for adults only. If you are under 18, or under the minimum age where you live, please do not use the service. If you think a minor is on a call, end it and report it.

What is and is not allowed on a call is set out in the community guidelines, and the legal side is in the terms of service. Both are short, and both apply to everyone who uses the service.

Not sure how to start a conversation without it getting awkward? A good opener goes a long way toward a comfortable call; what to say on random video chat has plenty.
